A Time For Greatness: The 1960 Kennedy Campaign

Share a unique time in history with your grandkids, the energy and optimism of Kennedy versus the experience and reputation of Nixon that resulted in one of the closest elections this country has ever seen. The Sixth Floor Museum presents a new temporary exhibit, A Time for Greatness: The 1960 Kennedy Campaign, which showcases campaign memorabilia, photographs and film from the Museum’s collection. This colorful look at the 1960 Kennedy campaign offers a timely exploration of presidential politics from a different era, connecting one historic election year to another through the lens of the incredible campaign of the youngest president ever elected.

Cricket Time

Chirping CricketHave you ever wondered how crickets make their unique sound?  You and your grandkids can take a closer look at live crickets and learn how they make their distinctive chirping noise.  The session includes a story-time and making a cricket craft.

Family Canoe Try-It Day

Heard canoeYour grandkids will have loads of fun in a canoe at the same time they are experiencing the amazing diversity in wetland vegetation and wildlife while also learning about the history and basics of wetland ecology. After a safety and canoeing introduction, you will spend about 40 minutes on a guided trail around the Heard wetlands, followed by free paddle time to explore on your own. Pre-registration required.
